King of 1 and 2 MILE - Competitors Brief

Greetings,
I wanted to reach out to everyone and let you know how excited Stuart, Klara, Alex and I are to have you as entrants for The 1st Annual KO1M Match in New Zealand.

We are hoping the weather will be cool and the wind calm but you know New Zealand weather in November so be prepared for Hot, Cold, Wet and Windy. The match is being held on a 7,700 hectare station near the town of Taihape, Central North Island, New Zealand.

The farm can be entered at 8:00am at the coordinates stated on website Thursday the 13th and we will weigh and certify your weapon for the match at 1221 Napier-Taihape Road ( https://maps.app.goo.gl/6ixiVH4Y4vjzrsu19 ). Please come to the HQ for sign in and then you may head to the zero range, which will open at 8:30am and will be available until 4.00pm Thursday 13th Nov. Please get your business done and move along as we are limited to only a few targets so please be considerate of others and don’t homestead the lanes. No one shooting the event will be allowed to shoot any steel other than the targets setup for your zero and muzzle velocity.

The match will start promptly Friday morning at 9:00am so I would like everyone to be gathered at the shearing barn area by 8:00am ( this is the spot that show the coordinates) then we will caravan to the shooting area for a shooter safety briefing and go over coarse of fire and logistics. Shooting slots will be from a random draw. This is a team event made up of one shooter and one spotter. Preliminaries for the KO1M will be on Friday and Finals on Saturday. The top 20 shooter from Friday’s score will move into the finals on Saturday. One member of the team will be shooting on Friday morning and the other member will be shooting Friday afternoon. Sunday will be zero and muzzle velocity day for the KO2M. The KO2M will be a one day match with both the preliminaries and finals shot on the same day.

Preliminaries will consist of 4 targets with 3 shots each target and it will be hit to move. You will have 9 min to fire 12 shots. Finals will be 3 targets and 5 shots each target and it also will be hit to move. You will have 10 min in the finals to fire all 15 rounds.

We will have 3 shooters down in the shooting positions. The first shooter of the day will have 10 minutes to setup and then time will begin and you will have 9 minutes to fire your first 12 shots. While that shooter is engaging his targets shooter number 2 will be in his position and will use that time to prepare themself to start as soon as the shooter engaging his targets finishes and so on. As soon as you finish shooting please gather your brass and belongings and move so another shooter can setup in your slot…… this is not a time to discuss how your round went with your team mates!
Please stay attentive and be ready to stage yourself to keep the match flowing well also.

The second day will start with a safety briefing at 8:30am and the match will start immediately after. Same as day one the first shooter of the day will have 10 minutes to prep and then 10 min to shoot their 15 shots. This shooting cadence will be the same for both days of the match.

All targets will be no more than 2 MOA in size. All targets will be scored by the multiplier used for the KO2M which consist of a first round impact scoring 5x the distance and 2nd round impact scoring 4x the distance and so on.
Alex Cordsman will be manning the cameras for the match and we will have target cameras on all the targets and impacts will only be scored by the officials monitoring the cameras. The officials scoring from viewing the cameras will be the only ones making the official score for each impact.

Any target shot out of order will be considered a miss, and no score will be recorded for record.
Once the shooter goes on the clock any and all manipulation to the weapon, scope dial up, bipod adjustment, etc…. Must be made by the shooter. NO EXCEPTIONS! “READ KO1M AND KO2M RULES”

In the event you have a weapon malfunction, stuck brass, etc…. You and your spotter may make the weapon safe and try to clear it and resume as long as your still have time on the clock available.
Anyone having an Accidental Discharge will be grounds for a DQ!

You will be given final target distances at sign in and you are welcome to verify your own prior to match should you desire.
Be prepared for targets from 1000m to 2000m for KO1M and 1500m to 3100m for KO2M. Bring 27rounds for each event and whatever else you need for zero and velocity check.

No electronic communications equipment once on the firing line.

Any shooter that might have a disagreement as to a shot not being called incorrectly, you will have to provide a written protest as to the shot and a $50 fee for review if there was a mistake in your favor you receive the points and the fee returned, if not you lose the fee.

There will be an awards ceremony at the end of the finals on Saturday and a awards ceremony at the end of the match on Monday

NOTE:
You can shoot this KO1M match if your weapon is a .338 cal or smaller. There is a 11.8kg (26lbs) weight limit which consists of the rifle configured to shoot the match. You will need to have your weapon weighed and certified On Thursday and pick up your T-shirt. Be sure this is completed as you will NOT be able to compete with your weapon without it being weighed and certified “ No Exceptions”!

I truly look forward to seeing you all for a competitive fun filled match and I hope everyone brings their A game and I can’t wait to see who will be the King of 1 and the King of 2 mile.

What Our Clients Are Saying

"Outstanding course, run by highly experienced and fun instructors.
I gained so much insight into reading wind and using my milling reticle, I was amazed. High quality targets and shooting equipment supplied by TDI, their advanced system worked out my BC and trued my DOPE. I highly encourge keen LR shooters to get in touch with these guys.
