I have known the team from the Long Range Academy since the inception of the operation.

To make a long story short, I was keen to get into long-range shooting but didn’t know where to start, or even own a rifle.

Between Stuart and Brian, they were able to supply a custom-fitted rifle through Impact Sports NZ and more importantly, train me how to shoot safely and effectively in an increasingly wide range of applications.

There are not many people in New Zealand who will deliver the complete package and then take the time to continue supporting your journey.

From personal experience, it can be nerve-racking to take on a completely new hobby like long-range shooting.

​Everyone I have met through the academy has been down to earth and eager to share their knowledge. There are no egos or bullshit and at the end of the day, it's just a great bunch of people, that know what they are doing and collectively share a common passion.

One of my friends said I should do a fundamentals course with long range academy. He said I would learn a lot and have fun with like minded people.

I had been shooting for a long time and had done a few courses. I wasn’t sure that a fundamentals course would be worth it. Boy was I wrong...

I learnt a lot more theory from them and realised that each time I listened to the same course they presented, I had missed little nuggets of information.

When it came to implementing the theory. I did my best to remember every thing but it took the guidance of Brain and Stu to lock it down and it showed strait away. Closing up my shooting groups and taking shots out to distance I could not have imagined.

Practicing with the group has sharpened up my skills. I have made friends with people who are extremely knowledgeable and always will  go the extra mile in helping correct problems or answer reloading questions.

I really enjoy escaping from reality and disappearing on the shooting weekends with awesome like minded people. We have fun and challenge ourselves to constantly achieve better results.

I heard about Long Range Academy from a friend. I have attended other long range shooting courses previously.

I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of knowledge passed along in a casual friendly class atmosphere.

The subjects covered are marksmanship principles to start with and also equipment choices and how they affect your outcomes in the initial Course.

Since the first course my shooting ability in long range has lifted significantly thanks to their ongoing tuition.

If you take your shooting ability seriously, It is well worth any course fee to attend and also see new parts of rural New Zealand

I did the shooting fundamentals course with these guys mid March 2024.

I can’t speak highly enough of the quiet and understated expertise the instructors have.

Gear issues just got resolved, the techniques and procedures for precise shooting are clearly and simply explained. Lots of trigger time and very happy with the increase in skill and experience I came away with.

It was also very nice to meet other members of LRA and benefit from their experience as well.

The Fundamentals Course offered by Long Range Academy is well worth taking for anyone interested in improving their firearm skills, from casual hunters to competitive shooters.

As a junior shooter, I particularly appreciated the in-depth instruction on trigger control, which helped me tighten up my shot grouping considerably. The instructors also provided valuable insights on breath control, body positioning, and reading atmospheric conditions.

They have a wealth of knowledge from years of experience in various shooting environments, and it really showed in the quality of the instruction.

The courses are held at cool locations around NZ with very inviting land owners, the instructors and support crew were all incredibly welcoming and encouraging.

Just want to pass on a big thank-you to the team at the Long Range Academy.

I had been wanting to develop my skills further from just being a good recreational hunter and a reasonable shot to becoming a proficient long range shooter and learning the additional skills to achieve that goal.

Stu, Brian and the team spent a great couple of days at the initial Fundamentals course, and I walked away from that event with a significantly better technique, knowledge base and confidence to shoot longer ranges than I would have expected.

1 Year on and taking those skills with me I am now competing in long range and PRS style events and loving every minute of it.

​I would highly recommend spending some time with the team if you have the desire to become a better shooter!

I've done a fair bit of shooting, hunting, and handloading but I had definitely been reinforcing poor technique.

​The fundamentals course helped me break my muscle memory which allows me to now consistently hit targets out to a 1000m.

​The men in charge are the cream of the crop and the lads/students that were there are great guys and we are all keeping in touch with each other and talking about taking our shooting from the course into practice.

As an experienced mid-range shooter, I jumped on the opportunity to attend a Long Range Academy Fundamentals Course.
 
The instructors were not only very knowledgeable, but also had real world experience. 

Having more Instructors than attendees were refreshingly different –
one basically had a dedicated personal instructor at your disposal.  The course had an easy relaxed flow with a good balance between theory and practical sessions.

I’ve learned to use the gear I’ve got more effectively and that many of them had more features I haven’t even been aware of!
 
Even though I had many years shooting experience I walked away from this course with a ton of usable knowledge and the reassurance that I’m always welcome to attend refreshers.
 
I would recommend this course highly to anyone thinking of getting into long range shooting and hunting.
